Are you covered under the Residential Tenancy Act?
According to section 4(b) of the Residential Tenancy Act, the Act does not apply to "living accommodation owned or operated by an educational institution and provided by that institution to its students or employees".
If the Act does apply to you, refer to our Tenant Survival Guide to help you avoid problems before they happen or resolve problems when they do happen. You should also read through the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation's 7 part guide on how to prepare for rental accommodation.
